Tottenham Hotspur delivered a commanding 3-0 win over Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League, extending their impressive run of home clean sheets to three straight matches in the competition.

Spurs almost struck inside the opening minute, only for Jindřich Staněk to spring into action and thwart Richarlison after a sharp break led by Wilson Odobert. That early scare set the tone, as Tottenham pressed relentlessly. David Zima was forced into a crucial block to deny Pedro Porro, before Staněk again frustrated Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison with sharp stops.

The home side did, however, suffer a setback when Micky van de Ven received a yellow card for catching Mojmír Chytil in the face – a booking that rules him out of the upcoming clash with Borussia Dortmund. Slavia responded with a spell of confidence: Lukáš Provod tested Guglielmo Vicario from distance and Michal Sadílek headed wide as the visitors found their rhythm.

But Slavia’s resilience crumbled on 26 minutes. Porro whipped in a dangerous corner, Cristian Romero flicked it on, and Zima’s attempted clearance only succeeded in looping past his own keeper to give Spurs the breakthrough.

Vicario preserved the lead with two strong saves – first denying Youssoupha Sanyang’s fierce drive, then gathering Sadílek’s tame follow-up – before the interval arrived with Tottenham still firmly on top.

Just moments into the second half, the hosts doubled their advantage. Sanyang clipped Porro inside the area, the referee pointed to the spot, and Kudus calmly rolled his penalty straight down the middle for 2-0. Staněk continued to keep the scoreline respectable, parrying Odobert’s effort and watching Richarlison squander a golden chance from another Odobert delivery.

A wave of substitutions around the hour mark did little to change the flow. Staněk produced further heroics to deny Mathys Tel and Pape Matar Sarr, while Sadílek again failed to trouble Vicario at the other end. The lively Xavi Simons then forced another smart save from the overworked Slavia goalkeeper.

Simons would not be denied for long. He won a second penalty after being brought down by Igoh Ogbu and stepped up himself, squeezing the ball past Staněk despite the goalkeeper getting a glove on it, sealing a deserved victory.

The result continues Spurs’ revival, with successive wins following a five-match drought, and lifts them into the Champions League’s top eight ahead of Wednesday’s fixtures. Slavia’s five-game unbeaten run across all competitions comes to an end, with the Czech outfit slipping down to 32nd in the current rankings.
