Top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime sailed past big-serving Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard to secure a spot in the Dubai quarter-finals, while third seed Daniil Medvedev dispatched Stanislas Wawrinka in a one-sided clash of Grand Slam champions.

Auger-Aliassime overcame a sluggish start to defeat Mpetshi Perricard 6-4, 6-4, showing few signs of trouble throughout the match. The Canadian, who lifted the Montpellier trophy and reached the Rotterdam final earlier this year, will aim to transfer his impressive indoor form to the outdoor courts here in Dubai.

Eight of Auger-Aliassime’s nine career titles have come indoors, with his only outdoor triumph in Adelaide last year. After falling 0-3 in the first set, he quickly adapted to Mpetshi Perricard’s serve, breaking twice to claim the opener. A single break early in the second set was enough to seal the win, showcasing the kind of tennis that helped him reach a career-high world ranking of No. 5 at the end of 2025.

In the quarter-finals, Auger-Aliassime will face Jiri Lehecka, who battled past Pablo Carreno Busta 7-6(6), 6-4.

Medvedev Dominates Wawrinka

Third seed Daniil Medvedev made light work of Stanislas Wawrinka, winning 6-2, 6-3 as the Swiss star bowed out of the tournament. Wawrinka, a three-time Grand Slam champion, is making his final appearance in Dubai before retiring at the end of 2026.

The 2021 US Open champion proved too strong from the baseline, overwhelming the 40-year-old with depth, consistency, and relentless retrieval. The Dubai heat also played a role, as Wawrinka committed 35 unforced errors in just over an hour on court.

A 2016 Dubai champion, Wawrinka made his tournament debut 20 years ago. He was honored with a presentation after the match, celebrating a distinguished career.

Medvedev, the 2023 Dubai champion, will look to finish his Middle Eastern swing on a high after a last-16 loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas in Doha last week. He will meet Jenson Brooksby in the quarter-finals, following the American’s impressive 7-6(6), 6-4 win over seventh seed Karen Khachanov in his Dubai debut.
