Timberwolves come back to beat Celtics as Jokic posts 35th triple-double in Nuggets victory

Minnesota Timberwolves overcame the absence of Anthony Edwards to secure an impressive 102-92 comeback win over the Boston Celtics on Sunday.
Minnesota found themselves trailing by 15 points early in the second quarter, but flipped the momentum with a dominant fourth period, including a decisive 16-0 run. The surge saw them outscore Boston 26-15 in the final quarter and silence the home crowd of 19,156 at TD Garden.
With Edwards sidelined due to right knee inflammation, Bones Hyland stepped up to lead the Timberwolves with 23 points off the bench. Jaden McDaniels added 19 points, while Ayo Dosunmu contributed 17.
The victory moves Minnesota to 44-28 on the season, keeping them in sixth place in the Western Conference as they continue their push for playoff positioning.
New York Knicks improved to 47-25 and kept pressure on the Boston Celtics at the top of the Eastern Conference with a commanding 145-113 win over the Washington Wizards.
Karl-Anthony Towns led the way with 26 points, 16 rebounds, and three assists, while Jalen Brunson contributed 23 points as New York controlled the game from start to finish in a wire-to-wire victory.
The Wizards, meanwhile, continued their difficult run, suffering a 16th straight defeat. They sit second from bottom in the Eastern Conference at 16-55 and are battling with the Indiana Pacers (15-56) for the league’s worst record.
Nikola Jokić produced his 35th triple-double of the season as the Denver Nuggets powered past the Portland Trail Blazers 128-112 in the Western Conference.
Jokić finished with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists, while Jamal Murray added 22 points, including four three-pointers, as Denver controlled the contest.
The Nuggets improved to 44-28, staying in fifth place in the standings, just behind Houston Rockets (43-27).
Denver were also boosted by a rare outing from their first-choice starting five, with Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun lining up alongside Jokić and Murray, while Peyton Watson made an impact off the bench.
“We know we’ve got a good team and it’s been a while since we’ve had our full group together,” Watson said. “I think when we’re healthy, nobody can beat us.”
