Talk of Ruben Amorim sacking before season’s end dismissed

Fresh speculation circulating on social media has suggested that Ruben Amorim will not remain in charge of Manchester United next season.
The rumours gathered momentum after a post on X from a prominent transfer-focused account claimed Amorim was no longer considered the right man to lead United back to the top, with Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner reportedly identified as a potential successor.
However, sources close to the club have firmly dismissed that narrative.
Amorim remains on course to meet the objectives set for him at the start of the campaign, with Manchester United still firmly in contention for a return to the Champions League. At present, there have been no internal discussions regarding the Portuguese coach’s future.
Club insiders insist Amorim’s position is not under review and that the hierarchy is satisfied with the team’s overall direction. The former Sporting CP boss was tasked with keeping United competitive in the race for European qualification while beginning the process of re-establishing the club among the Premier League’s elite.
On both fronts, progress is being made. United currently sit just two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, and planning is already underway to further strengthen the squad.
The club is prepared to invest across the next two transfer windows, with a top-class centre-back and two midfield reinforcements identified as priorities for 2026, along with the addition of a new wide attacker. Further squad depth is also expected, particularly with European football anticipated next season.
While there is acknowledgement that performances have not yet reached their peak, there is growing belief within Old Trafford that Amorim’s side is becoming more cohesive and increasingly entertaining — key indicators in the club’s long-term rebuild.
Only a significant downturn in results or a clear failure to remain in the European qualification race would place Amorim under pressure later in the season. Until then, suggestions that his job is in jeopardy are considered premature.
For now, Amorim remains secure in his position and is fully expected to see out the campaign.
