Bormla Subbuteo Club continue to cement their status as a global powerhouse in table football after being honoured by the Maltese Olympic Committee during the Sports Gala Night held on 7 December 2025.

The club received both Special and Achievement Awards in recognition of their exceptional performances during the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 seasons. Bormla SC enjoyed remarkable success on the international stage, winning three international tournaments in the 2023–2024 season and an outstanding eight international tournaments in the 2024–2025 campaign. Their consistency and dominance saw them ranked number one in the FISTF Teams World Rankings for an impressive 18 consecutive months.

On the same weekend as the awards ceremony, Bormla SC were also in action at the Bologna Major. Charles Aquilina once again delivered a strong showing by reaching the semi-finals in the Veterans category, adding another podium finish to his season while maintaining his position as world number one since September. In the team event, Bormla SC progressed to the last 16.

The club closed the year in first place in the FISTF World Rankings, finishing with a commanding lead of 2,536 points over their nearest rivals. This advantage was built through victories at several prestigious international events, including the Eugies Grand Prix, Mechelen Golden International Open, Caen Grand Prix, Malta International Open, Vienna Grand Prix, Messina Grand Prix, Athens Major, Ludwigsburg Grand Prix, Estepa Grand Prix, and the Bormla International Open. Adding to an already memorable year, Bormla SC also reached the finals of the ECSTFA Champions League.

Looking ahead, Bormla SC’s international commitments will resume in the first week of January with the International Open in Yorkshire, Great Britain. The club will also host the Bormla International Open 2026 and compete in the Paris Major as part of another demanding calendar.
