Swedish striker earns legendary Barcelona number after dazzling Super Cup showing

Barcelona have officially registered Swedish forward Roony Bardghji as a first-team player following his standout performance in the Spanish Super Cup, rewarding the 20-year-old with the iconic number 19 shirt.
The former FC Copenhagen striker played a starring role in Wednesday’s Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club, scoring once and providing two assists. His display has now been recognised by the club, with Bardghji promoted from Barça Atlètic to the senior squad.
“Roony Bardghji, one of the standout performers in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club, has now been registered with the first team,” Barcelona confirmed on their official website. “Until now, the winger was officially listed with Barça Atlètic and wore the number 28. From this Sunday’s Super Cup final onwards, he will don the number 19 as a fully fledged first-team squad number.”
The number 19 shirt carries significant prestige in recent Barcelona history. Since Portuguese midfielder Lluís Carreras wore it during the 1995/96 season, the number has been associated with a long line of high-profile players.
Notable names to have worn the shirt include Juan Antonio Pizzi, Patrick Kluivert, Dani García Lara, Fernando Navarro and, most famously, Lionel Messi between 2005 and 2008. More recent wearers include Maxwell, Martín Montoya, Sandro Ramírez, Lucas Digne, Munir El Haddadi, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Martin Braithwaite, Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero, Ferran Torres, Franck Kessié, Vitor Roque and Lamine Yamal.
Bardghji now inherits the number as he continues his rapid rise at Camp Nou, with his Super Cup performance marking a significant milestone in his Barcelona career.
