Sunderland winger Simon Adingra joins Monaco on season-long loan

Sunderland forward Simon Adingra has joined Monaco on loan for the remainder of the season, the Ligue 1 club confirmed on Monday.
The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international joined Sunderland from Brighton last summer after making 73 appearances for the Seagulls. This season, he featured in 14 Premier League matches and one FA Cup tie, registering one goal and one assist.
Adingra is a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations winner and played a key role in Ivory Coast’s triumph, starting the final and earning the man-of-the-match award. He has earned 26 caps for the Elephants, although he was omitted from the squad for the most recent AFCON in Morocco.
Sources close to the deal report that Monaco have paid €1 million (£850,000) to secure the loan until the end of the campaign. The agreement also includes a non-mandatory option to make the move permanent for €17 million.
