Sunderland coach Le Bris says team gaining confidence ahead of Fulham clash

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage, as the Black Cats look to maintain their push for a top-four finish.
The team could extend their unbeaten run to five games this weekend, continuing their impressive form so far this season.
Fulham pose a tough challenge
Le Bris assessed the weekend’s opponents, who sit just one point above the relegation zone.
“They are really efficient at home, capable of creating chances in different ways. They have quality players and experienced coaching staff, so they’re a very good side,” he said. “I don’t really understand why they struggle away, but that’s not the focus for this game. Every match in this Premier League is tough, and this will be no exception.”
Reinildo Mandava update
Le Bris also addressed concerns over Reinildo Mandava, who picked up a hamstring issue while on international duty with Mozambique.
“He felt discomfort in his hamstring, but it’s not serious. It’s more related to an old injury from years ago than a new one, so he’ll be fine,” he explained.
Injured trio remain sidelined
Leo Hjelde, Dennis Cirkin, and Romaine Mundle will not feature against Fulham as they continue their return to full fitness.
“Dennis played 90 minutes in an under-21s match, and Leo and Romaine played 45 minutes each. That’s good progress, but Fulham is too soon for them,” Le Bris said.
Growing confidence
Sunderland have surprised many this season, sitting above clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United after being tipped for relegation. Le Bris highlighted the importance of maintaining focus and building confidence.
“We are building our confidence progressively, but everything is fragile, and we have to reset each game,” he said. “We approach every match as if it’s our first game in the Premier League, and that’s the mindset we need to keep.”
