Samir El Mourabet netted his first senior goal to secure a 2-1 comeback victory for Strasbourg over Crystal Palace in the UEFA Conference League.

The match began cautiously, with both teams—two of the competition’s early favourites—yet to concede a goal in the group stage. That clean sheet streak ended just 10 minutes before halftime, when Palace took the lead.

Jean-Philippe Mateta used his strength to hold off Lucas Högsberg before squaring the ball to Tyrick Mitchell, who finished neatly into the far corner. The goal was only the fifth in over 200 appearances for the left-back.

Palace nearly doubled their lead moments later after Strasbourg goalkeeper Mike Penders wandered out of his area. Ismaila Sarr’s long-range effort struck the inside of the post and bounced clear. Penders later redeemed himself with a key save from Yeremy Pino, which would prove crucial shortly after the break.

Eight minutes into the second half, Strasbourg levelled. Diego Moreira surged down the left flank and delivered a perfect cross for captain Emmanuel Emegha, who calmly side-footed his seventh goal of the season past Dean Henderson.

Strasbourg continued to press, and Palace were given a scare six minutes later. Penders once again ventured out, allowing Adam Wharton to steal the ball near the penalty area, only for his shot to crash against the crossbar. Penders then produced another superb stop from Pino—yet Strasbourg struck shortly afterward.

With 13 minutes remaining, Julio Enciso’s 20-yard free-kick rebounded off the crossbar, landing at the feet of 19-year-old El Mourabet, who finished calmly to complete the turnaround.

Dean Henderson kept Palace in contention with a point-blank save from Kendry Paez, but Strasbourg held firm to take 10 points from four Conference League matches.

Palace’s five-match unbeaten run came to an end, leaving them four points behind Strasbourg in the group standings.
