Tottenham remain fully committed to head coach Thomas Frank, despite rising unease among fans over both results and performances following their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend.

Boos echoed around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at full-time as frustration mounted over the team’s lack of attacking spark, while criticism also spread rapidly online. Supporters have begun to question the club’s direction under Frank, who took charge in June, replacing Ange Postecoglou.

Adding to the sense of discontent, footage emerged on Saturday appearing to show Djed Spence and Micky van de Ven avoiding their manager after the final whistle.

Tottenham’s attacking struggles were laid bare by an xG of just 0.05 against Chelsea — their lowest on record since such data began being tracked. Frank is said to be acutely aware of the issue, with sources insisting that work is already underway behind the scenes to address the team’s lack of cutting edge.

The club are preparing to strengthen during the January transfer window, with a left-sided attacker among the top priorities. Spurs could also move for a new centre forward if the right opportunity arises and room can be made in the squad.

There remain doubts over Richarlison’s long-term suitability for Frank’s system, while the club still feel they have yet to adequately replace the influence and quality of Son Heung-min.

Although Mohammed Kudus has impressed in patches, Xavi Simons has come under scrutiny for inconsistency in recent performances.

Reports have suggested that even some players are beginning to question aspects of the tactical approach, but sources close to the club insist that Frank’s position is not under threat. The Danish coach, who signed a contract through 2028, continues to enjoy strong backing from the board, who believe in his long-term vision and principles.

Beyond attacking reinforcements, Spurs are also expected to explore options for a new centre-back, and early planning is already underway to recruit a goalkeeper ahead of 2026.

Frank’s immediate focus, however, is on restoring confidence. Tottenham have a quick chance to respond, with back-to-back home games this week — hosting Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday before a crucial Premier League clash with Manchester United at the weekend.

The coming days offer Frank a vital opportunity to not only steady performances but also to reignite belief in his project — on and off the pitch.
