Liverpool manager Arne Slot insisted there was “no issue to resolve” after bringing Mohamed Salah on as a substitute in the club’s 2-0 victory over Brighton on Saturday—a week after the forward publicly criticized the team.

Hugo Ekitike opened the scoring at Anfield after just 46 seconds, and Salah, introduced in the 26th minute, provided the assist for Ekitike’s second goal with 30 minutes remaining.

Salah had accused Liverpool of throwing him “under the bus” after being left out of the starting lineup for last week’s 3-3 draw at Leeds, his third consecutive match on the bench. He also claimed he had no relationship with Slot following the Elland Road clash.

The forward was also omitted from Liverpool’s midweek Champions League trip to Inter Milan, which the Reds won 1-0, intensifying scrutiny ahead of the Brighton game.

Slot had said at Friday’s pre-match press conference that he would speak with Salah, adding: “I have no reasons not wanting him to stay.” After the win, he reiterated that everything was now back to normal.

“For me, he’s now the same as any other player,” Slot said. “You talk to your players if you’re happy or unhappy with things, but there’s nothing for me to talk about after what happened against Leeds.”

Slot confirmed that Salah was left out of the Inter squad because of his interview but emphasized that actions speak louder than words.

“He was in the squad again, and when I had to make my first substitutions, I brought him in. And he performed as I think every fan, including me, would like him to perform today,” he said.

Salah, 33, who signed a new two-year contract in April, will now depart for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, with the final scheduled for January 18th. His absence will depend on how far Egypt advance, amid ongoing speculation linking him to the Saudi Pro League.

Slot laughed off suggestions that the Brighton game could have been Salah’s last for Liverpool.

“He wasn’t the only player thanking the fans on the pitch—because the fans deserved a thank you from us,” Slot said. “Mo is going to the AFCON now, I hope he does very well, and in the meantime, we have to play here without him, with not that many players available at the moment.”
