The race for promotion in the GFA BOV Gozo Football League 2nd Division took a decisive turn on Matchday 14, with the top of the table heating up and a masterclass performance in front of goal defining the weekend’s action at the Kercem Stadium.

Sannat Lions FC 3–0 St Lawrence Spurs FC

In a high-stakes “six-pointer” at the summit, league leaders Sannat Lions extended their lead at the top with a clinical 3-0 victory over nearest rivals St Lawrence Spurs.

The Lions wasted no time, as David Galea broke the deadlock in the 8th minute. The Spurs fought to stay in the game, but their resistance crumbled late in the second half. Igor Nedeljkovic proved to be the difference-maker, netting in the 74th minute before converting a penalty five minutes later to seal the points and move Sannat three points clear at the top.

Zebbug Rovers FC 5–0 Oratory Youths FC

The second match of the day belonged entirely to one man: Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa. The Zebbug forward put on a spectacular display, scoring four goals in a dominant 5-0 win over Oratory Youths.

Barbosa opened his account in the 13th minute and doubled the lead just before half-time. Ismael Belhadj added a third in the 65th minute, but Barbosa wasn’t finished, completing his hat-trick in the 75th and adding a fourth in the 86th. The win keeps Zebbug firmly in the hunt for a top-three finish.
