Real Betis tightened their grip on sixth place in La Liga with an emphatic 4–0 victory over Getafe, condemning the mid-table visitors to a fourth straight defeat in all competitions.

Antony was again at the heart of Betis’ attacking play and almost opened the scoring inside five minutes, though his early effort lacked conviction. Getafe goalkeeper David Soria was soon called into action again, denying Pablo Fornals, while Cucho Hernández narrowly failed to connect with Ángel Ortiz’s inviting delivery as the hosts applied sustained pressure.

The breakthrough arrived in the 16th minute when Antony’s cross was met by Aitor Ruibal, whose header nestled into the bottom-right corner. Betis continued to press, and Antony passed up a chance to double the lead after cutting onto his favoured left foot, only for Djene to block his effort.

Manuel Pellegrini was content enough with his side’s first-half display to resist making changes at the interval — a decision quickly justified after the restart. Just four minutes into the second half, a swift counter-attack saw Antony curl an effort onto the post, with the rebound falling kindly for Ruibal, who reacted quickest to claim his second of the night.

Getafe’s resistance soon collapsed. Hernández’s perfectly weighted pass over a high defensive line sent Fornals racing clear, and the midfielder finished clinically to make it 3–0.

The visitors briefly thought they had pulled one back when Borja Mayoral headed in at the back post, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Moments later, Betis struck again as Marc Roca’s miskick proved inconsequential, allowing Hernández to pounce and add a fourth.

Antony went close to further extending the margin, while a second Fornals goal was also disallowed for offside. Mayoral then summed up Getafe’s frustrating evening by sending a late and questionable penalty wide.

The result marked the first time in 16 meetings between the sides that the fixture produced four goals, as Betis continued their push for European qualification. Pellegrini’s men now head into 2026 with confidence ahead of a daunting trip to Real Madrid, while Getafe face an earlier visit to Rayo Vallecano as they look to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.
