Ruben Amorim expresses gratitude to Sir Jim Ratcliffe for his backing at Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed his gratitude to club owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe for the support he has received during a turbulent first year in charge.
Amorim has faced intense scrutiny throughout much of his tenure since succeeding Erik ten Hag. His spell has been far from smooth, and only in recent months have the rumours surrounding his job security finally subsided.
Despite the pressure, Amorim insists his team remains “far from perfection” and has continued to defend his tactical approach, which—like his leadership—has frequently come under fire.
Throughout the past year, the Portuguese coach has been backed by the United hierarchy, even after overseeing what was statistically the worst season in the club’s history.
Speaking to Stan Sport, Amorim reflected on the impact of that support, particularly amid the relentless media noise surrounding his future.
“It’s always really important, but it’s even more important for the fans to understand that we have a clear path and that we’re committed to following it no matter what,” he said.
“To be honest, it doesn’t change much for me because I’m not worried about losing my job—that feeling has always been there.
“But when Jim gave that interview, it calmed everything down around the club. The noise changed completely. That was really important for the team, and if it’s important for the team, it’s important for me.”
Ratcliffe’s backing has come both off the pitch—through upgraded training facilities—and on it, with United investing around £200 million in players such as Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.
With the club committed to Amorim’s long-term vision, the United boss now appears firmly settled as the Red Devils continue to build around his philosophy.
