The Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) Sailing School delivered a standout performance at the Sailing Point Easter Regatta 2026 in Portorož, Slovenia. Competing against 396 sailors from 15 nations, the RMYC team showed grit and tactical skill across a grueling four-day competition.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Ruya Cakmakli, Team Leader Rachel Ferry, and coach Maurizio Bencic, the six-person squad benefited from a pre-regatta training camp to master the local conditions.

Regatta Highlights:

• Challenging Conditions: The event tested the fleet with everything from demanding 17-knot winds to tricky, light-air patches that required extreme patience and consistency.
• Gold Fleet Success: Out of 93 elite sailors, Gianni Bianchi secured an impressive 11th place overall, highlighted by a race win and a second-place finish. Ethan Kodjaazliev also performed well, finishing 31st.
• Silver Fleet Podium: Jaime Escudero Carra claimed a brilliant 2nd place in the Silver Fleet. Teammates Marko Kuvichkin (34th), Ben Spiteri Bailey (62nd), and Polina Chaplytska (77th) all gained vital international experience.

Head Coach Ruya Cakmakli noted that the results reflect the continued growth of the RMYC program and the resilience of its young sailors. The Club extended its congratulations to the entire team for their dedication on the international stage.
