Roma and Juve play out six-goal thriller as Old Lady rescue late draw

Federico Gatti’s dramatic stoppage-time strike rescued a 3-3 draw for Juventus at AS Roma, allowing the Bianconeri to keep their UEFA Champions League qualification hopes alive, despite extending their Serie A winless streak to four games (D2, L2).
Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma welcomed a Juve side that appeared both physically and mentally drained after a gruelling midweek, two-hour clash in Europe, which ended in elimination at the hands of Galatasaray SK.
The hosts immediately set the tone. Niccolo Pisilli drove through on goal, forcing Mattia Perin into a smart save, before Lorenzo Pellegrini fired the rebound agonisingly over the bar. Juventus responded but struggled to convert chances, with Francisco Conceicao and Kenan Yıldız both missing from promising positions.
The end-to-end action continued, with Malen denied at the near post by Perin following a Gianluca Mancini header from Bryan Cristante’s cross. Off-target headers from Weston McKennie and Cristante kept the drama alive, but Roma finally broke through in the 39th minute. Pisilli released Wesley, who curled a stunning right-footed strike past Perin from the edge of the box.
Juventus hit back immediately after the break. Francisco Conceicao turned in a thunderous left-footed volley from Bremer’s layoff following a Teun Koopmeiners free-kick clearance, leveling the score with what looked a potential Goal of the Season.
However, Roma regained the lead seven minutes later when Evan Ndicka connected with Pellegrini’s delivery from a one-two with Pisilli, finishing clinically from close range. The hosts then stretched their advantage with Donyell Malen’s deft dink over Perin after Manu Kone’s perfectly weighted through ball, marking his sixth goal since joining on loan from Aston Villa FC in January.
Juve refused to fold. Jeremie Boga netted his first Juventus goal, finishing at the far post after Zeki Celik inadvertently flicked Edon Zhegrova’s cross into his path.
And just when Roma seemed set to claim all three points, Federico Gatti struck from deep range following a long free-kick into the box, sparking wild celebrations among the travelling Bianconeri fans.
Roma now sit three points clear of fifth-placed Como 1907, while Juventus remain fourth points behind the Giallorossi in sixth, keeping them firmly in the hunt for European qualification.
