Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski announced on Saturday that he will leave the club this summer once his contract comes to an end.

The experienced Polish forward, now 37, scored 119 goals in 191 appearances across all competitions after arriving from Bayern Munich in 2022.

During his time in Catalonia, Lewandowski played a key role in helping FC Barcelona win three La Liga titles, including this season’s championship, as well as the Copa del Rey in 2025.

“After four years full of challenges and hard work, it’s time to move on,” Lewandowski wrote in a post on Instagram.

“I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships.”

The striker arrived at Barcelona during a difficult financial period for the club and helped guide them back to the top of Spanish football while also restoring their competitiveness in the UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona is back where it belongs,” Lewandowski added.

“I will never forget the support and love I received from the fans from my very first day here. Catalonia will always feel like home to me.”

The Polish striker is set to make his final appearance at Camp Nou on Sunday when Barcelona face Real Betis, with head coach Hansi Flick confirming that Lewandowski will be in the starting lineup.

“He spoke to the squad, said his goodbyes, and reflected on what a wonderful period this has been for him in Barcelona,” Flick said.

“I’ve worked with Robert for many years now, and together we’ve won nine trophies. Every title I’ve achieved came alongside him.”

“For me, it has been a privilege to work with him,” Flick continued. “He is the ultimate professional. Every single day, he pushed himself physically to remain at the highest level.

“He’s also the perfect example for younger players, and that’s one of the main reasons he is still performing at such an elite standard.”

Flick went on to describe Lewandowski as “an incredible person as well as a world-class footballer.”

FC Barcelona also paid tribute to the striker on social media, writing: “Thank you, Robert Lewandowski, for every goal, every battle, and every unforgettable moment in our colours. He arrived as a superstar and leaves as a legend.”

Lewandowski will depart as one of the most prolific forwards of his era, having also finished as La Liga’s top scorer during his first season under former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez.

This season, Hansi Flick regularly rotated Robert Lewandowski in attack alongside Spain international Ferran Torres, with the veteran striker finishing the campaign with 18 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions.

Lewandowski has yet to reveal where he will play next, although he has reportedly attracted interest from clubs in both Saudi Arabia and the United States.
