Pisa have appointed 33-year-old Swedish coach Oscar Hiljemark as their new first-team manager. The club confirmed the news on their official website, revealing that Hiljemark has signed a contract running until 30 June 2027, with an option to extend.

Hiljemark was chosen to succeed Alberto Gilardino, who was dismissed after a difficult Serie A campaign in which Pisa managed just one win, alongside 11 draws and 11 defeats.

The Swedish coach is no stranger to Italian football, having enjoyed a playing career in Serie A with Palermo and Genoa between 2015 and 2019.

After ending his playing career with Aalborg in 2021, Hiljemark transitioned into coaching, first as an assistant before taking his first managerial role in March 2023. Pisa will hope his experience in Italy can help steady the club and improve results in Serie A.
