Rebrov leaves Ukraine role after missing out on World Cup qualification

Serhiy Rebrov has stepped down as head coach of the Ukraine national football team, the Ukrainian Association of Football confirmed on Wednesday.
The former Dynamo Kyiv and Tottenham Hotspur striker was appointed in 2023 and guided Ukraine to the UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany the following year. However, their hopes of reaching this year’s FIFA World Cup were ended by a 3-1 defeat to Sweden national football team in the qualification playoff semi-finals.
Despite stepping down from the managerial role, Rebrov is set to remain involved with the association in a different capacity, according to the official statement.
UAF president Andriy Shevchenko подчеркнул the need for change, stating that the focus now is on moving forward and making decisions that will shape the future of the national team.
The UAF said that a new coach would be announced later.
