Real Madrid and UEFA, with the European Football Clubs (EFC) acting as witnesses, have officially reconciled “for the good of European football,” according to a statement from the club on Wednesday, February 11th.

The announcement follows Barcelona’s decision last Sunday to withdraw from the Super League project, leaving Real Madrid “alone in the face of danger.” With this latest development, it has been confirmed that Real Madrid is reintegrating with UEFA, putting an end to the legal disputes between the club and European football’s governing body.

The joint statement from Real Madrid and UEFA reads in full:

“UEFA, the European Football Clubs (EFC), and Real Madrid C.F. have reached an agreement for the good of European club football.

After months of discussions held in the interest of European football, UEFA, the European Football Clubs (EFC), and Real Madrid C.F. announce that they have reached an agreement in principle for the benefit of European club football, respecting the principle of sporting merit and emphasizing the long-term sustainability of clubs and the improvement of the fan experience through the use of technology.

This agreement in principle will also serve to resolve their legal disputes related to the European Super League, once a definitive agreement is implemented.”
