Barcelona forward Raphinha has been ruled out for around a week after suffering a right leg injury, the LaLiga champions confirmed on Monday.

The Brazilian was forced to leave the pitch at halftime during Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Elche. Medical tests revealed an overload in the adductor muscle of his right leg.

In a club statement, Barcelona said: “Raphinha is suffering from an overload in the adductor muscle of his right leg. His recovery period is expected to be one week.”

As a result, the 29-year-old will miss Tuesday’s Copa del Rey quarter-final clash against Albacete.

Raphinha has been an important figure for Barça this season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists. Earlier in the campaign, he was sidelined for nearly two months after picking up a hamstring injury in September.

Barcelona currently sit top of LaLiga, holding a one-point advantage over Real Madrid as they push for a third league title in four years.
