The GFA BOV Gozo Football League 1st Division action continued on Sunday, 8 February 2026, at the Gozo Stadium. The day was marked by a significant upset as Qala Saints defeated title-contenders Għajnsielem, while Xagħra United and SK Victoria Wanderers fought out a hard-earned draw.

Qala Saints produced a disciplined performance to derail Għajnsielem’s title charge with a clinical 2-0 victory. The Saints took an early lead in the 9th minute when Bruno Da Cruz found the back of the net.

Għajnsielem struggled to break down the Qala defense, and their frustrations grew in the second half when Wallisson Alberto Dantas Dos Santos (Bahia) doubled the lead in the 68th minute. To make matters worse for the Blacks, Wayne Hili was shown a straight red card in the 90th minute, leaving them empty-handed and shorthanded for their next outing.

In the second fixture of the day, basement-side Xagħra United earned a valuable point in their fight for survival against SK Victoria Wanderers.

Xagħra looked set for a crucial win when Junior Claudir Marini put them ahead just before the half-time whistle (44’). However, the Wanderers responded immediately after the break, with Mustapha Lawal Amodu leveling the score in the 49th minute. Despite chances for both sides late in the game, the spoils were shared.
