PSG could welcome back Dembélé for Champions League clash against Spurs

Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé could make yet another return in what has been an injury-disrupted season when Paris Saint-Germain host Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Wednesday.
“We will see tomorrow, but if nothing goes wrong, he’ll be in the squad,” coach Luis Enrique told reporters on the eve of the match in Paris.
Dembélé, 28, claimed the Ballon d’Or for his exceptional form last season, yet has managed just five starts for PSG this campaign due to recurring fitness problems. His most recent outing came in the European champions’ 2–1 home defeat to Bayern Munich three weeks ago, where he was forced off after just 25 minutes with a calf issue.
“Whenever a player returns from injury, it’s always tricky to manage, and with Ousmane we need to be even more cautious than usual — though of course we want him back,” Luis Enrique added.
PSG, who opened their Champions League campaign with three straight wins before falling to Bayern, are already without Desire Doué and African Footballer of the Year Achraf Hakimi for the clash with Spurs.
The French champions sit fifth in the 36-team league phase with nine points, while Tottenham trail by a single point in 10th. The top eight teams will qualify directly for the last 16, with the following 16 advancing to a playoff round.
Wednesday’s match will be the sides’ second meeting of the season. They previously faced each other in August’s UEFA Super Cup in Udine, where PSG fought back from two goals down to draw 2–2 before winning on penalties.
