Interest in Antoine Semenyo is accelerating ahead of the January transfer window, with Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all considering potential moves for the Bournemouth forward.

Semenyo has a £65 million release clause that becomes active during the first two weeks of January, placing Bournemouth on alert as they prepare for the possibility of losing one of their standout performers.

Based on information from Flashscore sources, the current thinking at each interested club is becoming clearer.

Liverpool are viewed as a particularly strong option, and it is understood that Semenyo himself would welcome a move to Anfield. The club’s interest is genuine, with sporting director Richard Hughes — who previously worked and played at Bournemouth — potentially playing a key role in any negotiations.

Much hinges on Mohamed Salah’s future. Should Salah depart, Semenyo would move to the top of Liverpool’s shortlist to strengthen the right flank, with sources indicating the player would prioritise such a move. However, any delay in resolving Salah’s situation could allow rival clubs to move first.

Manchester United are also closely monitoring developments and believe, following early discussions, that Semenyo would be open to a switch to Old Trafford. United’s recruitment strategy is focused on proven Premier League performers from clubs lower down the table, making Semenyo an ideal fit.

The forward has already demonstrated his quality this season, including scoring against United at Old Trafford earlier this week. While his tactical fit may be less straightforward than at Liverpool, United value his versatility and adaptability, with some comparisons drawn internally to Amad Diallo. Semenyo is seen as an attacker capable of operating in multiple roles, including as a wing-back if required.

This flexibility aligns with Ruben Amorim’s vision of a more aggressive, proactive style as United attempt to re-establish themselves among the elite.

Manchester City are another club keeping a close eye on the situation as they look to add greater directness and goal threat to their attack. A potential departure for Oscar Bobb could open space for a new attacking addition, and City are understood to admire Semenyo’s work rate as well as his end product.

Tottenham Hotspur are also tracking Semenyo, viewing him as a wide forward capable of operating on either flank. Their pursuit is complicated by a period of transition, with Thomas Frank still working to fully implement his philosophy. Nevertheless, adding a wide attacker remains a January priority for Spurs.

A possible exit for Brennan Johnson could create the opportunity for Semenyo to arrive and make an immediate impact, and sources suggest Tottenham believe they could present an attractive personal package to strengthen their position in the race.

Although the short window in which Semenyo’s release clause is active gives Bournemouth hope of retaining him — as clubs are often cautious in January — the stakes in the second half of the season mean it remains highly likely that Semenyo will be offered the chance to take a significant step forward in his career.
