This summer, students across Malta experienced the world of Para sport through a series of inspirational and inclusive awareness sessions delivered by the Malta Paralympic Committee (MPC) as part of the I’mPOSSIBLE Education Programme.

Led by educators Christina Borg, Tommy Wallbank, and Rachel Cachia, the sessions aimed to promote inclusivity, understanding, and physical activity for all. They were delivered in both mainstream schools and specialised Resource Centres catering for students with different types and levels of disability.

Each session was carefully designed to educate, inspire, and empower young people by introducing them to the world of Para sport and the remarkable stories of athletes with disabilities. Students took part in activities such as blindfolded goalball and VI athletics, offering them a first-hand glimpse of the experiences faced by visually impaired athletes. Interactive discussions encouraged students to reflect on how sport can be adapted to ensure equal participation for everyone.

Throughout the summer, MPC visited three Resource Centres and 27 schools, reaching around 400 students. This marked the second consecutive year that the programme formed part of the Government of Malta’s SkolaSajf initiative.

“These sessions are more than just summer fun activities and games,” said MPC educator and impact officer Rachel Cachia. “They are about showing every student that sport and physical activity is for everyone. It offers young people of all abilities a way to participate, fostering inclusion, confidence, and personal growth.”

The MPC expressed its gratitude to APS Bank, official partner and sponsor of the I’mPOSSIBLE Education Programme, as well as to student volunteers Tommy Wallbank, a para athlete and sports student, and Christina Borg, a medical student. Their contribution helped spread the Paralympic values of courage, determination, inspiration, and equality to students across the island.
