Paris Saint-Germain have been handed a major boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, as head coach Luis Enrique confirmed that Ousmane Dembélé is fit and available for selection.

The France international, who scored in PSG’s 2–0 victory over Bayern in the Club World Cup quarter-finals back in July, had been a doubt after feeling discomfort in his right thigh during last week’s game against Lorient. He played just 18 minutes in Saturday’s Ligue 1 win over Nice.

However, Luis Enrique allayed any injury concerns on Monday.

“We don’t take risks with any players,” the Spaniard said. “But Ousmane Dembélé is fit — he’s been training fully for the last two weeks. His physical condition is improving and he will certainly play tomorrow. I don’t know for how many minutes, but he’s ready to compete.”

Dembélé’s return comes as PSG prepare to face a Bayern Munich side in exceptional form. Since losing to the French champions in July, the German giants have won all 15 of their competitive matches, including nine straight victories in the Bundesliga.

Both PSG and Bayern sit level on points and goal difference in their Champions League group, each having won their first three matches.

PSG, unbeaten in their last eight competitive fixtures, will look to continue that run at the Parc des Princes. Luis Enrique said his team are ready for the challenge of facing a Bayern side known for their relentless pressing and attacking power.

“We know how difficult it will be,” he said. “We’re ready and motivated to win. I expect a similar match to the one we had in the United States last summer — full of intensity. Playing at home, with the incredible atmosphere our fans create, we’re confident we can raise our level and deal with their pressure.”
