Newcastle United will ask for an explanation from the referees’ organization PGMOL regarding Anthony Gordon not being awarded a penalty after falling in the Chelsea area due to a challenge by Trevoh Chalobah in Saturday’s 2-2 Premier League match, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe stated on Tuesday.

Newcastle was ahead 2-1 when the incident occurred, and shortly after, Joao Pedro leveled the score as Chelsea salvaged a point.

“We will request clarification (from PGMOL), and those inquiries have already been made, not by me personally but by the club.” “We simply want to understand the reasoning behind the choices,” Howe informed journalists.

Howe stated following the game that Newcastle was refused a clear penalty.

“I wouldn’t want to train them to present that type of challenge in the area since it will force the referees to make a decision.” I believe one skill of defense is to avoid placing yourself in that situation. I believed it then and still do that it was a definite penalty. After reviewing it, I still haven’t changed my opinion.
