Nadur and Xewkija Claim Key Wins as Gozo League Table Tightens

Matchday 18 of the GFA BOV Gozo Football League First Division delivered important results at the Gozo Stadium, with Nadur Youngsters and Xewkija Tigers both securing valuable victories.
In the opening encounter, Nadur Youngsters FC overcame Qala Saints FC 3-1 in a match that came alive in the second half. Murilo Scarpari gave Nadur the lead on the stroke of half-time, putting his side ahead after a tightly contested opening period.
Qala responded in the 77th minute through Wallisson Alberto Dantas Dos Santos (Bahia), who levelled the score and set up a tense finale. However, Nadur quickly regained control, with Diego Fernando Rodriguez Angulo restoring the lead just five minutes later.
Qala’s hopes of a comeback were dealt a major blow in the 86th minute when Nathan Chukwudi Njoku was sent off. Moments later, Nadur sealed the win as Rodriguez Angulo converted from the penalty spot to make it 3-1.
In the second match, Xewkija Tigers FC edged Xagħra United FC 2-1 in an entertaining contest. Xagħra took an early lead through Ibrahim Salis in the 11th minute, but Xewkija responded swiftly.
Ezequiel Eduardo Ruiz proved to be the difference-maker, equalising in the 18th minute before striking again just before the half-hour mark to complete the turnaround. Xewkija held firm for the remainder of the match to secure all three points.
Following these results, the league standings remain competitive. Kerċem Ajax FC continue to lead the table with 38 points from 15 matches. Xewkija Tigers strengthen their position in second place on 28 points, while Għajnsielem FC sit close behind with 27 points from 14 games.
Qala Saints remain on 23 points, with SK Victoria Wanderers on 17. Xagħra United have 11 points, while Nadur Youngsters, despite their win, remain at the bottom with 8 points.
With the season approaching its final stages, every point is proving crucial in the battle for positions across the table.
