Musiala, Davies and Urbig set to miss second leg of Atalanta clash through injury

FC Bayern Munich will be without several key players for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 clash after injuries to Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and goalkeeper Jonas Urbig during Tuesday’s emphatic 6–1 victory over Atalanta BC.
The German champions dominated the first leg in Italy to take a commanding advantage ahead of next week’s return fixture. However, the win came at a cost as three members of the squad picked up injuries during the match.
Musiala suffers ankle setback
Playmaker Musiala sustained a knock to his left ankle — the same ankle he fractured last year — raising immediate concerns for the club.
The Germany international had only recently returned to full action after suffering a broken ankle and leg in July 2025. The injury had sidelined him for months, and he had been hoping to build match fitness ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which begins in June.
Davies and Urbig also ruled out
Davies also suffered an injury during the encounter. The Canada international picked up a thigh muscle problem shortly after returning from a previous spell on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Bayern goalkeeper Urbig was diagnosed with a concussion following a late collision with an opponent in the closing moments of the match.
Bayern maintain strong domestic position
Despite the injury concerns, Bayern remain in a strong position both in Europe and domestically. The Bavarian side currently sit top of the Bundesliga with an 11-point lead.
The club has not confirmed how long Musiala, Davies or Urbig will be out of action, but all three are expected to miss the Champions League second leg against Atalanta.
