MSJA Boxing Day Tournament Raises €1,500 for l-Istrina

The Malta Sports Journalists Association (MSJA) once again upheld tradition as its annual Boxing Day football tournament raised €1,500 in aid of l-Istrina.
This year’s event was staged at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and featured the newly formed TEAMmt, a side made up of TV and media personalities, who stole the spotlight by emerging as overall winners after defeating all their opponents.
Led by Malta Eurovision Song Contest singer Fabrizio Faniello, TEAMmt enjoyed a perfect record, winning all three of their matches. Their campaign culminated in an emphatic 3–0 victory in the final against a team composed of Members of Parliament. The other two participants — the MSJA and the Malta Football Referees Association (MFRA) — both suffered defeats against TEAMmt and the MPs, but provided an entertaining finale as they shared a thrilling 5–5 draw.
Her Excellency President Myriam Spiteri Debono attended the event and officially kicked off the tournament, warmly endorsing the initiative organised by the MSJA since 1975. The President underlined the strong symbolism of the occasion, highlighting how journalists, Members of Parliament, referees and media personalities came together through sport to support a worthy cause. She also praised the tournament’s enduring tradition and its ongoing contribution to social solidarity.
