Msida St. Joseph Edge Marsaskala to Tighten Grip on Second Place

The BOV Amateur League II title race heated up this past weekend as Msida St. Joseph secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Marsaskala at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. The win allows Msida to remain in second place, keeping the pressure on league leaders Kalkara.
Late Drama at the Victor Tedesco
Marsaskala stunned the promotion hopefuls early on, taking the lead in the 38th minute through Jake Psaila. Msida struggled to find their rhythm for much of the match but finally leveled the score in the 73rd minute when their top scorer, Akindele Taiwo David, continued his clinical form with a well-taken equalizer. Just as the match seemed destined for a draw, Jayden Borg emerged as the hero for the “Saints,” netting a dramatic winner five minutes into stoppage time.
Siggiewi 1-0 Dingli Swallows: Surprise Derby Win
In a closely contested “derby” at the Luxol Stadium, Siggiewi delivered a major blow to Dingli Swallows’ promotion ambitions with a narrow 1-0 win. Despite Dingli dominating early possession, Siggiewi struck on the counter-attack in the 27th minute via Roa Juan Manuel Artiaga. Siggiewi’s disciplined defense, led by goalkeeper Clyde Aquilina, withstood a second-half onslaught to secure the upset.
Ta’ Xbiex 0-0 Kalkara: Stalemate in Top-of-Table Clash
The weekend’s most anticipated match between leaders Kalkara and Ta’ Xbiex ended in a tactical goalless draw. Ta’ Xbiex’s Neil Borg was sent off in the 58th minute for a professional foul, but a heroic performance from goalkeeper Debono—including a goal-line clearance in stoppage time—ensured the ten-man side earned a vital point.
Mdina Knights 5-1 Ghaxaq: Galea Shines with Four Goals
Mdina Knights maintained their push for a promotion spot with a dominant 5-1 dismantling of Ghaxaq. While Ghaxaq took a shock lead after only three minutes, the match belonged to Giovanni Galea, who netted an incredible four goals (a “poker”) to seal the clinical victory.
