Benfica president Rui Costa confirmed on Tuesday that Jose Mourinho will remain at the club for next season, speaking briefly to Spanish media ahead of Benfica’s Champions League playoff first-leg clash with Real Madrid.

Answering questions from Spain’s Chiringuito, Costa unequivocally stated that Mourinho would continue in charge for the 2026/27 campaign. “Yes, he will remain,” the Benfica president said when asked about the manager’s future.

Costa also described the upcoming match against Real Madrid as a challenging fixture, emphasizing the difficulty of the encounter.

The comments come amid recent speculation in the Spanish press linking Mourinho with a potential return to the Santiago Bernabeu, but Benfica have moved to firmly dismiss those rumours.
