Momentum Builds Around Jadon Sancho’s Dortmund Comeback

Jadon Sancho could be set for another return to Borussia Dortmund, according to sources.
The winger is currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United, but his long-term future remains uncertain as his contract situation opens up ahead of the summer transfer window.
United are reportedly unwilling to keep covering Sancho’s £250,000-a-week wages and are not expected to trigger an option to extend his deal. As a result, the 26-year-old is likely to become available on a free transfer.
It would mark a dramatic twist for a player who joined United from Dortmund for £73 million in 2021, with the possibility now emerging that he could return to the Bundesliga side without a fee.
A move back to Germany is seen as a realistic and increasingly likely option, with Sancho understood to be open to taking a pay cut to help facilitate a deal. Early discussions are said to have been positive.
Although he has had mixed loan spells at both Chelsea and Aston Villa, Sancho has previously enjoyed some of his most productive form during his time at Dortmund.
Sources suggest that a return to Germany could provide the ideal setting for Jadon Sancho to revive his career.
Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac has already given his approval to a permanent move from a sporting standpoint. Early talks have taken place, with more detailed negotiations expected in the coming weeks.
Aston Villa would be willing to retain Sancho in the Premier League if that is his preferred option, but at this stage Dortmund are considered the frontrunners for his signature.
The Bundesliga club are preparing for a summer squad reshuffle and are looking for smart, cost-effective additions in the transfer market, with Sancho seen as a strong fit for their plans.
His expected departure from Manchester United would bring an underwhelming spell at Old Trafford to an end, far below the expectations that came with his £73 million move after a prolonged pursuit.
Ultimately, United are prepared to move him on and cut their losses, while Sancho himself is searching for a fresh start to rebuild his career trajectory.
