France captain Kylian Mbappé has filed a claim for €240 million in damages against Paris Saint-Germain, escalating a bitter dispute over his former club’s handling of his contract.

PSG responded with a countersuit, seeking €180 million in Paris’ labor court. The club’s claim is linked to a failed €300 million transfer to Saudi club Al Hilal, which Mbappé declined.

The 26-year-old initially lodged a complaint in June 2025, citing mistreatment by PSG at the start of the 2023/24 season. Mbappé alleges he was sidelined and forced to train with players the club was trying to offload after he refused to sign a new contract — a practice reportedly affecting other players and prompting a formal complaint from the French players’ union last year.

Mbappé missed PSG’s 2023 pre-season tour of Asia and the first game of that season but was later reintegrated into the squad following discussions with the club.

After seven seasons with PSG, Mbappé joined Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer, reportedly earning €30 million per year. During his PSG career, he scored 256 goals in 308 appearances, though the club went on to win the Champions League for the first time last season after his departure.
