Manchester City enter Marc Guéhi race as January move considered

Manchester City are demonstrating clear intent to reclaim the Premier League title this season, and that ambition could yet see them make a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi.
While City are currently leading the race to sign Antoine Semenyo, reinforcing the defensive line remains a key priority for Pep Guardiola’s side. Sources suggest several high-level options are being assessed, though the club are unwilling to pursue signings simply to add numbers if their primary targets prove unattainable.
Guéhi has emerged as a leading candidate, with the Crystal Palace centre-back approaching the final stages of his contract. The England international is believed to favour waiting until the end of the season to assess his options, when he would be available on a free transfer.
The defender was close to joining Liverpool last summer and is now open to a potential move abroad, with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich credited with interest. Liverpool, now under Arne Slot, are also thought to remain in the picture.
Manchester City could yet attempt to challenge Guéhi’s current stance, particularly as they sense a strong opportunity to regain the Premier League title after surrendering it to Liverpool last season. Arsenal currently lead the table, but City have narrowed the gap and appear well positioned to mount a serious title push.
There is a growing belief within the club that adding one more elite defensive option could prove decisive in the latter stages of the campaign.
No formal approach has yet been made to Crystal Palace regarding Guéhi, but a move remains a possibility City may choose to explore as the season develops.
