Man Utd target Atalanta midfielder Éderson to replace Casemiro

Manchester United are preparing for life without midfielder Casemiro this summer, with Atalanta’s Éderson emerging as a potential replacement.
Casemiro confirmed in January that he will leave the club at the end of the current season, bringing an end to his four-year spell at Old Trafford.
The 34-year-old has been influential for United this term, particularly since Michael Carrick took charge in January, scoring five goals in his last 12 Premier League appearances. His impact as a powerful ball-winner, combined with his ability to contribute in attack, has made him a key figure in the squad.
However, his departure is expected to leave a significant gap in midfield unless a high-quality replacement is brought in.
United are already active in the transfer market, and Atalanta midfielder Éderson is among the players being closely monitored as part of their search for reinforcements.
Atalanta are reportedly holding out for around £39 million for Éderson, although with the midfielder under contract until 2027, there is increasing belief that a lower fee could eventually be negotiated.
That development is likely to encourage Manchester United, who are said to be leading the chase for the Brazilian by putting forward a lucrative contract offer worth €4.5 million per year (approximately £75,000 per week).
Transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, explained that United have moved ahead of Atletico Madrid in the race for the midfielder.
“Manchester United would be ready to offer Éderson a net salary of €4.5 million per year. Arsenal have also enquired about him,” Moretto said.
“United have surpassed Atletico with their contract proposal. However, no club has yet reached an agreement with Atalanta. United are the club with the greatest financial room.”
A combative and physically strong midfielder in the mould of Casemiro, Éderson has made 39 appearances in all competitions for Atalanta this season, scoring twice, and is being viewed as a potential successor to the Brazilian at Manchester United.
