Malta Claim First Victory After Penalty Shoot-Out Win Over Slovakia in Women’s Water Polo World Cup Division Two

Malta registered their first victory in the Women’s Water Polo World Cup Division Two after defeating Slovakia 13-11 on penalties following a thrilling 10-10 draw at the end of normal time.
The Maltese side showed determination and composure to come through a closely fought contest, eventually prevailing in the shoot-out to celebrate an important win.
Elena Borg led Malta’s scoring with an impressive five goals, including penalties. Martha Perici Ferrante added three, while Kendra Navarro and Fyla Schembri each scored twice. Tully also got on the scoresheet with one goal.
Slovakia were led by Vetelova, who scored four times, while Sidoklova added three goals. Tetolovac netted twice, with Vasova and Tesorelova each contributing one goal.
After the teams could not be separated in regulation time, Malta kept their nerve from the penalty spot to secure a deserved victory and an encouraging result in the competition.
