Madueke and Martinelli shine with stunning goals as Arsenal rout Club Brugge

A stunning brace from Noni Madueke guided Arsenal to a 3-0 victory over Club Brugge, keeping the Gunners as the only team with a perfect record in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Manager Mikel Arteta made five changes to the side that lost to Aston Villa over the weekend, but Arsenal looked sharp from the start. Martin Ødegaard tested debutant Dani van den Heuvel, who was making his Champions League bow after Simon Mignolet’s injury in the warm-up.
Club Brugge held their own initially, with Aleksandar Stanković seeing a speculative effort blocked. However, Arsenal continued to create the better chances. Piero Hincapié’s instinctive strike rattled the post, and Viktor Gyökeres’ header was deflected behind.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 25th minute. Madueke danced past Joaquin Seys and Raphael Onyedika before unleashing a stunning strike that hit the underside of the crossbar and found the net.
Arsenal kept up the pressure, with Hincapié seeing a header blocked on the line by Hans Vanaken, while Van den Heuvel denied Gyökeres’ effort. Club Brugge’s Carlos Forbs provided the main threat for the visitors, but his shot was blocked by Hincapié and then saved by David Raya. Stanković curled another chance wide, and both he and Christos Tzolis saw their attempts saved as Brugge searched for a response.
Arsenal came out firing in the second half, with Madueke doubling his tally just 90 seconds after the restart, heading home Martín Zubimendi’s precise cross.
The scoring continued as Gabriel Martinelli made history, becoming the first Arsenal player to score in five consecutive Champions League games. He breezed past Hugo Siquet and Onyedika before curling a sublime finish into the top corner.
Club Brugge continued to push, with Tzolis’ corner reaching Brandon Mechele, whose shot was blocked by Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Tzolis’ follow-up effort went wide. Gabriel Jesus came agonizingly close as his strike hit the crossbar.
Despite the near-misses, Arsenal celebrated another milestone as 16-year-old Marli Salmon made his first-team debut. With this win, Arsenal became only the second English side in history to win 10 consecutive Champions League group-stage games, moving three points clear at the top of their group.
Meanwhile, Club Brugge are still chasing their first win since their opening group-stage match, sitting 30th and three points shy of a playoff spot.
