Kyrgios confirms professional comeback at Brisbane event

Nick Kyrgios will return to competitive action at next month’s Brisbane International after receiving a wildcard entry, tournament organisers confirmed on Sunday, as the former Wimbledon finalist continues his comeback ahead of a potential Australian Open appearance.
The 30-year-old Australian has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons and has played just five singles matches in 2025, most recently at the Miami Open in March.
A former Brisbane International champion in 2018, Kyrgios is currently ranked 673rd in the world and does not hold a protected ranking, meaning he will also require a wildcard to compete at the Australian Open at Melbourne Park.
As part of his preparation for the season’s first Grand Slam, Kyrgios is set to feature in the Kooyong Classic exhibition event in Melbourne. He is also scheduled to take part in a high-profile “battle of the sexes” exhibition match against women’s world number one Aryna Sabalenka in Dubai on December 28.
