Kovac Insists Dortmund Are Confident Ahead of Imposing Bayern Clash

Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac, who took charge midway through last season, has overseen an unbeaten run in Germany and Europe this term. The team currently sits second in the Bundesliga, four points behind Bayern Munich.
“We are solid at the moment, and that is the basis if you want to have any success. Of course, we know Bayern’s form—10 wins from 10 games across all competitions,” Kovac said at a Dortmund press conference.
“We’re averaging 2.3 points per game, which is strong, but Bayern are on three points. That shows the quality of their squad. Still, we want to continue playing successful football and are ready to invest a lot in Munich. What Bayern are doing is impressive, but we are on a good path ourselves and ready for this tough challenge.”
Saturday’s match marks the first of six away games in Dortmund’s next seven fixtures across all competitions, including Champions League trips to Copenhagen next week and Manchester City on November 5.
Kovac stressed that Dortmund will not approach the clash with caution. “Bayern usually decide games in the first half. So our goal is to keep the game open for as long as possible,” he said. “We have to start strong, stay compact, and limit their opportunities. Acting with fear in Munich doesn’t work—they score four goals per game—but we also have attacking strengths and must apply pressure.”
