Kane Hails Diaz Display in Bayern’s Victory Over Real Madrid

Harry Kane hailed Luis Diaz for producing a decisive late spark that helped Bayern Munich knock Real Madrid out of the Champions League on Wednesday and secure a place in the semi-finals.
Leading 2-1 from the first leg, Bayern were pushed hard as the 15-time European champions showed their trademark resilience, taking the lead three times during a dramatic first half.
With the tie finely balanced at 4-4 on aggregate, Diaz stepped up in the 89th minute to give Bayern the edge, before Michael Olise sealed the victory with a stoppage-time goal.
The German side now advance to face reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain, having triumphed 4-3 on the night and 6-4 overall.
Reflecting on the match, Kane said Bayern remained the more proactive side in the closing stages.
“Even in the final 20 minutes, it felt like we were the ones pushing to create something,” he explained.
“They began to fade a bit, and sometimes all it takes is a special moment — a bit of magic, a brilliant finish, or a perfect pass.
“Tonight, it came through two excellent finishes from Lucho and Michael to get us over the line. That’s what the Champions League is all about.
“At times, you can dominate and still lose, so it’s great to come through and win a game like this.”
Harry Kane also pointed to Bayern Munich’s patience as a key factor in their victory over Real Madrid.
“The swings in the first half, especially, were quite extraordinary,” Kane said.
“We stayed composed and kept our patience, and in the second half we felt we would grow stronger as the game went on.
“Physically, we’ve been very strong in the final 10 to 15 minutes this season, and that showed again. We made the most of our chances when it mattered most.”
Kane’s first-half goal also saw him reach a remarkable milestone, becoming the first English player in a top-five European league since 1930-31 to score 50 goals in all competitions in a single season.
“It’s a reward for all the hard work — not just from me, but from the whole team,” he told TNT.
“I couldn’t do it without the players around me. For me, it’s about maintaining that level.
“There are still six weeks left with Bayern, and then a World Cup in the summer with England. I just want to stay fit, sharp, and ready to contribute.”
Bayern boss Vincent Kompany expressed confidence ahead of their semi-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
“Our belief is stronger than ever,” Kompany said.
“We kept believing right until the end and never gave up, even after two very tough games against a top side like Real Madrid.”
