Juventus tighten hold on top four after Bologna victory

Juventus continued their strong run of form with a third consecutive win and another clean sheet, beating Bologna 2-0 at home in Serie A to boost their top-four hopes and damage their opponents’ European ambitions.
The hosts made a flying start, breaking the deadlock after just 90 seconds. Although Bologna had been solid defensively on the road—going nine away matches without conceding before half-time—Juventus quickly put them under pressure from the outset.
Sustained early attacking intent paid off when Francisco Conceição dropped a pass back to Pierre Kalulu, whose cross was expertly guided in by Jonathan David with a precise header.
Juventus controlled the match from there, adding another headed goal in the second half to secure all three points and further strengthen their position in the race for Champions League qualification.
Juventus thought they had doubled their advantage 10 minutes after taking the lead, but Francisco Conceição saw his composed finish ruled out for offside. The winger was later played through again midway through the first half, only to be denied by a sharp save from Federico Ravaglia.
The pressure from the hosts continued to build as Juventus kept pushing forward. In the 34th minute, they came agonisingly close to a second goal when a clearance fell to the edge of the box, where Emil Holm struck a powerful half-volley that crashed against the crossbar.
Despite the missed chances, Juventus remained firmly in control, maintaining their intensity and territorial dominance throughout the first half.
Five minutes later, Bologna came agonisingly close to pulling one back when a low delivery from Nadir Zortea was met by Jonathan Rowe, who struck the post from close range.
The final stages of the match produced little in terms of clear chances, as Juventus comfortably saw out the victory and controlled the tempo to close out the game. The result also extended their strong run under head coach Luciano Spalletti, who marked his new two-year contract extension with an eighth consecutive game unbeaten across all competitions.
For Bologna, the defeat ended their push for a fifth straight away win, although the result was historically unsurprising given their long-standing struggles in this fixture, now stretching to 30 matches without a win against Juventus in all competitions.
