Juventus shatter Bodø/Glimt dreams with dramatic late winner in arctic thriller

A stoppage-time strike from Jonathan David earned Juventus their first victory of this season’s UEFA Champions League, snatching a dramatic 3-2 win over Bodø/Glimt.
The Norwegian hosts, who had won their last four home games against Italian sides, started the match brightly. Francisco Conceição tested goalkeeper Mattia Perin with a fierce drive from the edge of the box, and Vasilije Adžić came close with a back-post volley that struck the roof of the net.
Bodø/Glimt soon took the lead, however. Ole Didrik Blomberg’s initial effort bobbled narrowly wide, but minutes later he capitalized on a Kasper Høgh flick from a corner to fire his side ahead with his first Champions League goal.
The goal galvanized Juventus, with Adžić and Conceição both denied by superb saves before halftime. Patrick Berg also saw a strike blocked, and Høgh’s deflected attempt narrowly missed, keeping the score at 1-0 for the Norwegian side.
The second half brought swift action. Bodø/Glimt doubled their lead when Lois Openda pounced on a scramble in the penalty area, ending a personal goal drought dating back to April with a crisp right-footed finish.
Juventus responded quickly. Fabio Miretti, having seen a previous goal ruled out for offside, delivered a perfect cross to the back post, where Weston McKennie rose high to head home, reducing the deficit and reigniting the Italian side’s hopes.
As the game intensified, Conceição’s whipped shot was tipped wide, while Perin denied Berg’s ambitious 30-yard free-kick. But Bodø/Glimt drew level late when Sondre Auklend was fouled by Juan Cabal, allowing Sondre Brunstad Fet to calmly convert the resulting penalty.
The drama was far from over. In the 91st minute, Juventus launched a rapid counter-attack that found Jonathan David in the penalty area, and the forward stroked the ball home to secure a sensational late winner. The result moves Juventus into the top 24 in the league phase and marks only their second away victory in their last 12 UCL outings.
For Bodø/Glimt, the defeat leaves them winless in five matches (D2, L3) and facing a daunting task to reach the knockout stages.
