Juventus overcame a frustrating first half to claim a 2–0 victory over Pisa at the Arena Garibaldi, extending their winning run in all competitions to four matches and leaving Alberto Gilardino’s side stuck in the relegation zone with just one win all season.

Arriving in Pisa with a modest travelling record — having won only four away matches across all competitions — Juventus initially struggled to translate their dominance into clear chances. Andrea Cambiaso set the early tone by blazing over inside the opening minute, while Weston McKennie was denied by Adrian Šemper from a tight angle. Kenan Yıldız then sent an effort narrowly over the bar, before Loïs Openda fired straight at the Pisa goalkeeper.

Despite expectations that Juve would build on their recent 1–0 win at Bologna, the visitors remained blunt in the final third as the first half wore on. Pisa offered little threat themselves, rarely looking capable of improving on their meagre home scoring record. However, they came agonisingly close on the stroke of half-time when Michel Aebischer’s short-corner delivery was met by Stefano Moreo, whose thunderous effort crashed off the crossbar.

Pisa emerged with renewed confidence after the interval and nearly struck first, as Samuele Angori’s fierce free-kick was deflected narrowly wide. Juventus responded through Manuel Locatelli, whose low drive was held by Šemper, before the hosts hit the woodwork again on the hour mark. Matteo Tramoni rose highest to meet a cross, guiding his header onto the outside of the post.

The woodwork was rattling at both ends. Moments later, Michele Di Gregorio’s goal frame was still shaking when Lloyd Kelly found space inside the Pisa area and smashed an effort against the bar. Juventus finally made the breakthrough in the 74th minute, and once again it came via defensive involvement.

A neat move down the right involving Edon Zhegrova and Cambiaso opened up the Pisa defence, and although Arturo Calabresi initially blocked McKennie’s low cross, the ball ricocheted off Pierre Kalulu and crossed the line after a final touch from a Pisa defender.

Juventus weathered late pressure before sealing the result in stoppage time. Jonathan David broke clear and linked up with Fabio Miretti, allowing Yıldız to apply the finish and secure an eighth win in 12 matches under Luciano Spalletti.

The result also extended Pisa’s losing streak against Juventus to nine matches, as their first head-to-head meeting of the century ended in familiar frustration for the hosts.
