João Pedro is in scintillating form, standing out in a Chelsea squad that sometimes looks fatigued, and he’s ready to make Paris Saint-Germain his next victim this Wednesday.

Undoubtedly Chelsea’s top scorer this season, João Pedro recently earned a call-up from Carlo Ancelotti to lead Brazil during a World Cup year. Despite the demands of a busy season, the 24-year-old has impressed consistently and poses the biggest threat to the Parisian defense in the upcoming Champions League last-16 clash.

Always in the Right Place

Pedro first began shining under Enzo Maresca and has continued his development under Liam Rosenior. The striker has delivered against all opponents, in the Premier League, Europe, and domestic cups. With 14 goals and five assists in 29 league matches, and three goals in six Champions League games, he has cemented his status as a key figure in Chelsea’s attack.

Rosenior praised him at last weekend’s press conference: “I wouldn’t trade João Pedro for any other striker in the world. It’s not just his goals — it’s his intensity, his pressing, and his tactical awareness. He’s always in the right place at the right time.”

Pedro’s instincts allow him to unlock games. He unsettled Arsenal at the end of the recent derby (a 2-1 defeat) and tormented Aston Villa with three goals and an assist in a single match. Up against a slowing Willian Pacho and the unpredictable Illya Zarbanyi, he’s poised to exploit spaces and capitalize on defensive errors.

Terrifying Form

Confidence is oozing from the Brazilian forward. Rosenior added: “He’s terrifying right now.” With Cole Palmer yet to make a major breakthrough, João Pedro has emerged as Chelsea’s secret weapon — the player PSG will need to monitor closely. His creativity and freedom on the ball make him a constant threat, qualities that will be key in this round of 16 showdown.

Speaking to UEFA, João Pedro said: “I think I’ve shown some good things. When the coach arrived, we had talks. He knew me and wanted to help me develop my skills. I liked that. I always want to improve and reach the top. My form is thanks to him. When a coach believes in you, it naturally motivates you.”

Pedro has scored in each of his last four matches, except against Arsenal, and he’s expected to shine at the Parc des Princes — both to entertain and to help Chelsea secure an early advantage in the tie.
