Jack Doohan joins Haas as F1 reserve driver after departing Alpine

Australian Jack Doohan will serve as a reserve driver for the Haas Formula One team this season following his departure from Renault-owned Alpine.
The 23-year-old, son of motorcycle legend Mick Doohan, made six appearances for Alpine last year before being replaced by Argentine driver Franco Colapinto.
Doohan joins Japan’s Ryo Hirakawa, 31, on the US-owned Haas reserve roster.
“It’s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career,” Doohan said of the Toyota-backed team.
Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu highlighted Doohan’s prior reserve experience at Alpine as a valuable asset.
“The dedication required to stay sharp and be ready to race while learning how a team operates is challenging for any driver, especially one eager to return to this level,” Komatsu said. “I’ve enjoyed getting to know Jack, and we look forward to welcoming him into the team and benefiting from his contributions.”
The 2026 season gets underway with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 8.
