Inter goalkeeper Martinez involved in fatal accident with elderly man in wheelchair

Inter Milan’s second goalkeeper, Josep Martinez, was involved in a tragic accident on Tuesday morning in Fenegrò, in the Como region near the club’s headquarters in Appiano Gentile.
Shortly before 10 a.m., Martinez, 27, was driving his car when he struck an 81-year-old man in an electric wheelchair. The impact was fatal, and despite the rapid response from emergency services, the man died instantly.
Authorities dispatched a helicopter from Como, an ambulance from the Red Cross of Saronno, and the Cantù Carabinieri to the scene to reconstruct the circumstances of the accident.
Martinez was unharmed physically but reportedly in a state of shock. The road was temporarily closed to allow for investigation and rescue operations.
Further updates from local authorities are expected as the investigation continues.
