Hibernians and Mġarr United set up Women’s Jubilee Cup Final Clash

Hibernians and Mġarr United will contest the special edition of the Women’s Jubilee Cup Final on December 8, after both teams secured impressive semi-final victories over the weekend.
Hibernians 3–0 Birkirkara
Scorers: N. Sciberras 65’, S. Kabene 71’, 90’
Hibernians booked their place in the final with a commanding 3–0 win over Birkirkara, though the Paolites had to remain patient before finding the breakthrough.
Captain Nicole Sciberras opened the scoring with a decisive finish just past the hour mark. From there, the momentum shifted fully in Hibs’ favour as in-form Ugandan striker Sylivia Kabene struck twice late on to seal the victory.
The result sent Hibernians into their fourth consecutive domestic cup final, reaffirming their consistency and strength in knockout competitions.

Swieqi United 1–1 Mġarr United
(Mġarr win 3–1 on penalties)
Scorers: S. Saliba 79’ pen (S); Y. Carella 58’ (M)
The second semi-final produced drama and tension as Mġarr United edged Swieqi United in a penalty shoot-out following a 1–1 draw.
Mġarr goalkeeper Patricia Ebejer was the hero of the night, saving three penalties to send her side through. Swieqi’s only conversion came from Tammy Falzon, with Salamatu Abdulai, Shona Zammit, and Sara Saliba all denied.
Ironically, Saliba had earlier pulled Swieqi level from the penalty spot in regular time, cancelling out Yulya Carella’s well-taken opener for Mġarr.
In the shoot-out, Mġarr showed composure and precision, finding the net through Carella, Maia Debono, and Valeria Villegas.
Currently top of the league with eight straight wins, Mġarr are riding a wave of momentum. Their qualification builds on last season’s historic success, when they lifted the Women’s Knock-Out for the first time.
