Handball Knock-Out Finals set for thrilling weekend at Tal-Qroqq

The Malta Handball Association is gearing up for one of the highlights of the domestic calendar as the Knock-Out Finals take centre stage this weekend at the University Sports Hall, Tal-Qroqq.
Bringing together the country’s leading youth and senior sides, the two-day programme promises high-intensity matches, strong rivalries, and a vibrant atmosphere as teams battle for silverware across six categories.
Saturday – Youth battles and senior showdowns
The action gets underway on Saturday, 28 February with the U15 Boys final at 12:30, as Swieqi Phoenix face LaSalle in what is expected to be an energetic encounter between two well-drilled youth setups.
At 14:00, attention shifts to the U15 Girls final, where Kavallieri take on Swieqi EBHS Phoenix, renewing a rivalry that has produced several closely fought matches this season.
The programme then moves into the senior finals, starting with the Women’s decider at 15:30. Swieqi RGF Malta Phoenix will meet Kavallieri RS2, with both sides looking to cap their campaign with knockout honours after consistent league performances.
The day concludes with the Men’s Senior final at 17:30, featuring Kavallieri RS2 against Swieqi Gasan Mamo Phoenix. With both clubs boasting experienced squads and a history of competitive clashes, the match is widely expected to be one of the standout fixtures of the weekend.
Sunday – Emerging talent in the spotlight
Sunday’s schedule shifts the focus back to youth development, beginning with the U17 Girls final at 09:00, where Kavallieri once again meet Swieqi EBHS Phoenix in another chapter of their ongoing duel.
The final match of the event will be the U19 Boys final at 11:00, pitting Shooting Stars against Kavallieri. The fixture offers a platform for some of Malta’s most promising young players to showcase their ability on a major stage.

With multiple finals across age groups and both genders, the weekend represents a celebration of the sport’s growth in Malta.
