Ħamrun Spartans goalkeeper Henry Bonello has been honored as the LifeStar Insurance Most Valuable Player for January 2026.

The veteran shot-stopper has been in formidable form throughout the season, but his performances in January were particularly vital. Bonello played a key role in the Spartans’ successful campaign to clinch the Opening Round title, providing stability and leadership from the back during a congested fixture list.

His standout contributions included back-to-back clean sheets in two of the month’s most critical matches: a 2–0 victory over rivals Floriana and a narrow 1–0 win against Sliema Wanderers. These results were instrumental in maintaining Ħamrun’s momentum at the top of the standings.

The MVP trophy was officially presented to Bonello by Chris Chetcuti, Head of Sales at LifeStar Insurance, ahead of the late kick-off between Ħamrun Spartans and Żabbar St. Patrick on Friday, 13th February.

This award marks a deserved recognition for Bonello’s consistency and match-winning saves as Ħamrun continue their pursuit of further silverware this season.
